DESCRIPTION:Join fellow Gorge residents for a Community Forum (Klickitat edition) to discuss how National Scenic Area land use rules and review processes are affecting homeowners\, property rights\, and the future of Gorge neighborhoods. This is a follow-up to the Skamania Community Forum in Underwood\, which was tremendously successful\, bringing more than 50 neighbors and other stakeholders together to have these critical conversations about the direction of our community under the current Gorge Management Plan. \nWhether you’ve faced delays trying to build or improve your home\, been denied a permit\, or are curious about how these regulations shape what’s allowed in our communities\, this is a chance to connect with neighbors\, ask questions\, and share your story. Together\, we’ll explore how these policies work\, why they matter\, and what options we may have to advocate for more fair\, transparent\, and locally accountable processes. \n\n\nThis is a neighbor-run event\, and officials and other stakeholders are invited to attend and participate. If you have specific questions\, please send them to gorgebaf at gmail dot com. Organizers may not have all the answers\, but will try to find the right agency or other source that may be able to help. You don’t have to live in Klickitat County to attend this event and share your story. SUMMARY:Community Open Gym
DESCRIPTION:Looking for a way to help your kids get the wiggles out as the weather changes? The Underwood Gym is open on Tuesday afternoons from 3:30 – 5:30 pm this fall and winter!  \nOpen Gym will make the Community Center available to individuals and families for shooting hoops\, playing cards\, and organizing family-friendly games (like dodgeball\, four-square\, pickleball\, etc.) This is a free\, drop-in community event and there is no formal programming planned. Some sports equipment will be provided\, but families should feel free to bring their own ideas for fun!  \nCurrently\, one local family has volunteered to host these weekly open gym sessions. However\, the goal is to have a rotating group of individuals and/or families willing to lend a hand to help keep this resource available for our neighborhood in the future. DESCRIPTION:Residents of Underwood are invited to attend a historic Skamania County Planning Commission workshop and public hearing to participate\, listen and learn about zoning for the last privately-owned\, unmapped parcels of land in Skamania County (located in Underwood). \nIn advance of the hearing\, attendees are encouraged to read more about the zoning options currently being discussed and consider how various zoning designations may affect quality of life\, property values\, the environment\, or any other variable that’s important to your family. The result of this zoning decision is a significant one\, as it will determine how land will be used for generations to come. \nThe Planning Commission workshop (open to the public and recommended) starts at 5:30 pm. The public hearing will begin at 6:15 pm. Both will take place at the Skamania County Courthouse Annex Building in the Lower Meeting Room. Residents who would like to make a public comment may do so at the meeting. Public comments are limited to 3 minutes each. The Underwood Gym is open on Tuesday afternoons from 3:30 – 5:30 pm this fall and winter!  \nOpen Gym will make the Community Center available to individuals and families for shooting hoops\, playing cards\, and organizing family-friendly games (like dodgeball\, four-square\, pickleball\, etc.) This is a free\, drop-in community event and there is no formal programming planned. Some sports equipment will be provided\, but families should feel free to bring their own ideas for fun!  \nCurrently\, one local family has volunteered to host these weekly open gym sessions. However\, the goal is to have a rotating group of individuals and/or families willing to lend a hand to help keep this resource available for our neighborhood in the future. DESCRIPTION:Color your fall with kindness and donate blood this October! The need for donors is always great\, and this month\, donors in Underwood will receive a $10 e-gift card for their donation\, plus be entered to win one of three $5000 gift cards. The American Red Cross will be at the Underwood Community Center from 12:30 to 5:30 on October 22. Booking an appointment in advance is strongly recommended. \n\nHere’s how to donate: \n\n1. Check Eligibility Requirements\nMore people can donate blood than ever before. Before you book an appointment to donate\, be sure to confirm your eligibility. If you have eligibility concerns\, you may call 866-236-3276.\n  \n2. Schedule an appointment.\n\n\nReview available time slots in Underwood and choose the available date and time that works best for you. We strongly encourage donors to register a time slot in advance. Walk-ins will only be accepted if all appointments have not filled up. Choose a time slot here or scan the QR code below to view open appointments: \n\n\n\n\n \n\nNot available to give blood on this day? Choose another date from our scheduled Blood Drives this year. \n\n\n  \n3. Complete your Rapid Pass Paperwork.\nThis process is best done in a private location\, online in advance of your appointment. It should take roughly 10-15 minutes to complete and if not done in advance\, it will be required on-site at the time of donation. Completing the Rapid Pass paperwork process early will save time during your appointment and reduce overall wait times at the blood drive event.
