DESCRIPTION:Donating blood saves lives! The American Red Cross will be at the Underwood Community Center this year on various occasions. Becoming a donor has never been easier!  Here’s how it works: \n \n1. Check Eligibility Requirements\nMore people can donate blood than ever before. Before you book an appointment to donate\, be sure to confirm your eligibility. If you have eligibility concerns\, you may call 866-236-3276.\n \n2. Schedule an appointment.\n\n\nReview available time slots in Underwood and choose the available date and time that works best for you. We strongly encourage donors to register a time slot in advance. Walk-ins will only be accepted if all appointments have not filled up. Choose a time slot here or scan the QR code below to view open appointments: \n\n\n\n\n \n\nNot available to give blood on this day? Choose another date from our scheduled Blood Drives this year. \n\n \n3. Complete your Rapid Pass paperwork. \nThis process is best done in a private location\, online in advance of your appointment. It should take roughly 10-15 minutes to complete and if not done in advance\, it will be required on-site at the time of donation. Completing the Rapid Pass paperwork process early will save time during your appointment and reduce overall wait times at the blood drive event. When prompted\, be sure to use zip code 98651 on your form.\n \n\n\n \n4. Download the Blood Donor App. \n\nThis is not required\, but it is encouraged! The free Blood Donor app puts the power to save lives in the palm of your hand. Schedule and manage appointments\, complete your RapidPass® paperwork\, get notified when your blood is on its way to a patient\, view results from your mini-physical\, and more. \n\n \n \n \n \n \nStill have questions? Get information about the most Common Concerns people have about giving blood. \n\n \nGENERAL FAQs\nWhat is the age requirement for donating blood?\nThe minimum age for making a donation is 16. 17 -year olds (and up) do not need parental consent. 16-year-olds need parental consent and parents must accompany their child for the donation. \n \nWhat should I bring to my appointment? \nBring your Drivers License or Red Cross Blood Donor Card. We also encourage you to download the Blood Donor app in advance of the blood drive.  \n \nHow do I prepare for my appointment? \nDrink plenty of water before you donate and make sure to be well-rested the day of your appointment. Eat a healthy meal\, avoiding fatty foods like hamburgers\, fries or ice cream\, and wear a shirt with sleeves that you can roll up above your elbows.  All these things will make the donation process easier. DESCRIPTION:Help us keep our neighborhoods clean and beautiful! \nJoin us for the Annual Underwood Road Clean-Up in Underwood on Saturday\, September 21st\, from 8:30 am until Noon. This year’s clean-up event is a great opportunity to meet new friends and neighbors and contribute to keeping the place we call home free of unwanted litter.  \nVolunteer participants can check in at the Community Center for street assignments between 8:00 and 8:30 am. Safety vests and bags will be provided\, but be sure to bring a pair of sturdy gloves! The collection event will be held at the Stevenson Transfer Station in Stevenson on Saturday MAY 18th\, 2024. \n\n• The FREE Household Hazardous Waste collection event will operate from 10:00am to 2:00pm sharp (No containers over 5 gallons)\n\n• The Business Small Quantity Generator collection event will operate Saturday from 8:00 am to 9:00 am and is by appointment only. \nFor further information\, appointment time or disposal pricing\, please call Clean Harbors Environmental Services at (503) 742-7105. \n\nAt these Small Quantity Generator and Household Hazardous Waste collection events\, county businesses and residents will be able to drop off all hazardous waste\, with restrictions.The wastes that are NOT accepted are: NO CONTAINER OVER 5 GALLONS\, ASBESTOS\, EXPLOSIVE\, RADIOACTIVE\, OR BIOLOGICAL. \n\nExamples of Household Hazardous Wastes that WILL be accepted include:\n\nPaints\, Solvents\, Gasoline\, Flammable Liquids\, Poisons\, Corrosives\, Herbicides\, Insecticides\, Pool Chemicals\, Aerosols\, household cleaners\, Batteries\, Antifreeze and Oil.
