(BOCC)<\/a> for zoning unmapped lands in Underwood. <span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">This recommendation included a combination of two zoning designations: residential 10-acre (R10) and commercial (CRL-40).<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Five commissioners (Ken Bajema, Ray Broughton, Anita Gahimer Crow, Ann Birkenfeld Leuders, and Michael Wilber) voted in favor of Option One. The majority of feedback opposed residential zoning, with nearly 70% of commenters favoring Option 4 and\/or generally opposing residential zoning in the area, citing concerns about protecting forest resource lands, maintaining rural character, extreme fire danger, and Underwood\u2019s limited water resources.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, public sentiment favored ongoing community interest in protecting forest resource lands in Skamania County and maintaining the area&#8217;s rural character.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-3 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-one\" style=\"--awb-margin-top:25px;--awb-margin-top-small:25px;--awb-margin-right-small:0px;--awb-margin-bottom-small:20px;--awb-margin-left-small:0px;--awb-font-size:20px;\"><h1 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"margin:0;font-size:1em;--fontSize:20;--minFontSize:20;line-height:1.4;\">Summary of Options Considered<\/h1><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3 fusion-text-no-margin\" style=\"--awb-margin-bottom:0px;\"><p>The Planning Commission initially considered various zoning options for unmapped parcels in Underwood. Community members <span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">interested in learning more about the options originally considered can <a href=\"https:\/\/underwoodcommunity.org\/wp-ucc\/unmapped-lands-underwood-washington-zoning-skamania-county\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">find additional<\/a><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/underwoodcommunity.org\/wp-ucc\/unmapped-lands-underwood-washington-zoning-skamania-county\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> information here<\/a>. During October&#8217;s public hearing, the planning commission considered only the following:<\/p>\n<p><b>OPTION ONE<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><\/b>This is the option that the Planning Commission recommended to the BOCC.
