Meet Your Neighbors
Meet Your Neighbors is an online interview series featuring new and long-time Underwood residents. Every few weeks, we’ll chat with one or more members of our community to gather stories about who they are, what brought them here, and what has made them stay. Rhett and Tina Jacobi purchased their cabin in Underwood just 48 hours after returning from a four-and-a-half-month sailing trip across the Atlantic. (Fun fact: they were married midway.) They officially moved to Underwood in May 2024, and we’re glad to have them here!

About Underwood, Washington
Underwood is an unincorporated community nestled onto the side of Underwood Mountain in Skamania County, Washington, just an hour from Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams and only minutes from all the outdoor activities the Columbia River Gorge offers. Our 20-square-mile community is home to a post office, fire station, and numerous orchards, vineyards, and wineries. Our Community Center and Park facilities include a gym, playground, covered picnic tables, gazebo, sports fields, and a community garden.
