Commissioner Vacancy Announcement

The Skamania County Elections Office will soon be accepting candidate applications for a Underwood Park and Recreation (UPRD) commissioner vacancy opening in January 2026. UPRD Commissioners play a vital role in ensuring that the Underwood Park and Community Center continue to operate efficiently and sustainably in service of our community.

The
UPRD Board of Commissioners consists of 5 elected members. Commissioners serve a 4-year term with elections every 2 years to stagger the influx of new commissioners. This is a volunteer position. Requirements for the position include:

  • An interest in, and commitment to, the community of Underwood;
  • An ability to attend one public UPRD board meeting per month (and additional meetings if needed for special projects);
  • A commitment to serving 3 volunteer hours per month in Underwood, depending on board role and level of involvement;
  • An ability to help research and inform decisions related to improving and maintaining the Park, the Community Center, park buildings, sports facilities, and grounds.
  • A willingness to participate in governing the Underwood Park and Recreation District.

HOW TO APPLY

Interested applicants need to file their candidacy with Skamania County directly. The regular filing period has closed, but a special 3-day filing period will soon be announced. Elections will take place in November 2025. There is no filing fee with the county for this position. Filing for candidacy must be done online.
