Making Waves: The White Salmon Valley Pool

For those who have been following updates for the White Salmon Valley Pool project, you know there have been some exciting developments in the last year, and the next few months will be pivotal. The community pool will be built near the middle/high school campuses in White Salmon, providing a valuable resource to Underwood residents and the entire Gorge community. We hope you’ll join us in following the White Salmon Valley Pool Metro Park District’s journey to launch with enthusiasm! Here’s a quick autumn update:
Progress on Permitting
Washington State Health Department permits for the new pool facility have been approved, and Klickitat County permit approvals are expected to arrive in early December.

Progress on Funding
The District has secured two key grants totaling over $2.7 million, which puts the project at nearly 70% funded. The goal is to reach 80% funding by early 2026, allowing the project to proceed to bid, break ground, and target an opening in 2027. The District is hoping to raise ~$900k by the end of the year.
Lots of Community Outreach
Last week, the District visited Trout Lake to discuss the potential annexation of the Trout Lake area into the pool park district. The District provided a project update to the UPRD Board, visited with the Strong People group at the Pioneer Center, and hung out with community members at the Mountain Town Throwdown event. A visit to the Bingen City Council is scheduled for October, as is a visit to the White Salmon/Bingen Rotary Club in November. The District is happy to discuss the pool project with any community groups (both formal & informal) and answer any questions. Interested community members can contact the District via email at hello@whitesalmonvalleypool.org to arrange a meeting time.
